The Games

In the book The Hunger Games the main character is Katniss who is chosen to be in the hunger games.  And the hunger games is a very big “holiday” where tributes from each district have to fight each other to the death.  Then the winner becomes rich and is showered with food.  So now so far in the book there are only 6 tributes left and 2 of them are Katniss and Peeta.  Also Katniss just lost her first ally and had her first real kill.  There was also a rule change so now 2 tributes from the same district can win.  And lastly there are career tributes trying to kill Katniss while she is now thinking about the games and needs Peeta.

Right off the bat I thinks so far rue is the most important character that had a positive impact on Katniss.  The reason is because she seemed like family and she reminded her of prim her sister and the made her think of home and winning for prim.  Also not just that but they were really good friends that just met but seemed like they knew each other forever and knew how to live together.  Not just that but rue help Katniss survive longer and help weaken her competition.  But not just that she was a sign of hope, hope for having friendship, for not being alone.  Rue was company and having that to motivate you, for you to go back to your friend and tell them what happened and what WE should do.

What this teaches me is that people you know may be more important than you think.  Like your parents they have the biggest impact on your life becase they are the ones that teach all of your life lessons and they are the ones that give you the information that you want t know about and learn more on.  There the ones that help guide your life and set up your future.  Also that having friends and siblings is very important because you also don’t see how important they are.  with out friends or siblings you are alone and no one is there to help you, care for you, speak to.  With out some by you, you might freak out or even regret some decisions made to get rid of that person. But mainly you are different with out people around, you change and  some times emotionally and mentally.  Like you will break down and be sad all the time or create people in your head for company.  Just overall with out people in your life you wouldn’t have the same life and wouldn’t enjoy anything or survive.

so many problems...now this

In the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins there is Katniss the main character, who lives in district 12 with her little sister Prim and her mother.  Katniss' district is very poor and she has to provide for the family since her mother can't.  Katniss is a well hunter and hunts game and then trades it for food for her family.  Now since there is this annual "holiday" called The Hunger Games.  What it is, is that each district gets 2 randomly picked people from the ages of 12-18 (one boy and one girl) to fight in an arena to the death to see the winner and to show how much power a rebellion doesn't have against the Capital.

i have noticed that the district is very poor and so are the people.  But the level of technology they have is pretty advanced.  The bakers are using brick ovens and the government has a Electric fence around the district.  There is no form of transportation in the district but trains connecting them to the capital.  It is like they are only using the good things on the very high and important people.  It is sort of like reality how the poor get nothing and have to do more to survive and live while the rich have everything at their feet.  now i am wondering what if Katniss wins The Hunger games does her district get more advanced technology and better life styles.  Also with Haymitch why was he drunk? it was like that victory he had in The Hunger Games did him when he won food and supplies for his district and himself isn't that great enough.  And no one else i know of had access to alcohol so how did he get it?

like i said it seems like the poor is frowned upon and treated like nothing.  but mostly it seems as of where your status is in anything that is how you are judged.  like people are judged by how much money they have, how many friends etc. But i think judgement of your class is the biggest (e.g. how much money you have and what you can afford)  because money is essential to getting things you need and what you want.  And when people are judged on what they have and can get they are usually downgraded or praised and loved and i think it is wrong because so what if i cant get this or don't have this will it help me in any way shape or form or will it just be some thing fun to have then never to be used again.  i think thats the way people should think and not like i said before about the judgement of what you have.

2 sisters 2 different lives

I noticed that in the past two books I read by Ellen Hopkins they both have the same types of things: drugs, sex, and family issues.  Matter a fact I noticed that in all of Ellen Hopkin's young adult novels they all have to do with very graphic issues like drugs and addiction.  In Identical, Raeanne is always smoking weed then having sex with ____.  Then when she does this routine with another guy she discovers that ____ and her have a connection.  This affected Raeanne because now she knows what _____ is all about and what he wants from her.

It is amazing how people use things that are harmful to them like drugs to help re-leave things and how much these drugs affect families and lives.  This issue has come up a lot in my life like in campaigns and rumors and such so I have been thinking about all the different angles.  like in fallout the mother was on drugs and the whole family just fell apart and had to live with different relatives.  This caused major family issues and like I said drugs lead to other issues and affect families.  The thing is they're so many families in America dealing with family members being addicted and other things like gangs.  But when the families cant help these family memebers other people step in like agencies and the authorities.  this then makes matters worse and makes the family more corrupt and in denial.  This is why drugs and other things that harm people in bad ways and other things that corrupt lives become a way of living for people that chose this life.

if even one person gets involved in one corrupting thing or sees one then that can change that person forever.  that one thing they saw or did might or will just make them "feed" off of that experience and do what ever the can to get what they want.  No matter how high the cost or deed to get what they want they will do it.  Maybe this is the main reason why families become corrupt because the person is only focused on the thing that corrupted them.

fall out 2

In the book fallout by Ellen Hopkins Seth just had a serious talk with his father and his father didn't know he was the father.  He was shocked and then Seth is now getting in trouble because his girl friend just found out about Leah and the girlfriend is really pissed.  Autumn is starting to drink her grandpas alcohol and wants sex from Bryce all the time.  Her aunt doesn't know anything about this only that Autumn is going out with Bryce.  Then there is Summer who was talking with her dad on how he met her mother.

I noticed that all the characters have another side to them.  Autumn is this nice girl that is very boring and now she is full of life and crazy about what is going on.  Seth is this laid back kid who has his life made and now he is very full of himself and a drinker.  Then for summer she was this very shy person who hated her father and now she is very nice and open and really wants to connect with her father.  And also Summers dad is always drunk and high and just annoying now after opening up to Summer he is very gentle and nice and sad.  I also noticed that Seth is doesn't really think about his actions he just does it then forgets it.  Then when it re-surfaces he gets in trouble and remembers fine an tries to weasel his way out of trouble.

I think though that all of the kids will met some where and then have a discussion on there lives.  Then they will all share their thoughts on Kristina and then there fathers or "parents".  And try and talk to the fathers of the children to try and explain everything to them.  Lastly they will find Kristina and try to help her to make her life better and maybe try to get her off crank.  Or that all fails and when they meet Kristina they will all be converted to crank and there lives will be ruined and live "happily" together on crank.

Fall out

In the book Fallout by Ellen Hopkins it is about the kids of a mother who is addicted to crystal meth.  The story is told through each of the three kids voices and how they are living there lives.  The kids don't live together and they are living with different families because they were adopted as kids i believe.   The first kids name is Seth and he lives with his grandma and grandpa.  Then there is Autumn she lives with her aunt and a different grandpa.    And lastly there is Summer who was on a foster home who is now with her dad.

I have noticed that Seth is sort of getting to be like his birth mother Kristina because he is the one that is always getting laid and doing drugs to relieve stress or problems but he isn't doing crank and getting buzzed all the time.  I do believe though he is going to get addicted to something and then his whole life will be ruined. Another thing I realized is that all of the characters are different but there is one part of them that resembles Kristina in them.  In Seth it is the drugs part, in Autumn it is the smart part and clean part, and in Summer it is the protective part of her no matter what state she is in.  I also noticed they all focus on there words and what they mean and that they all have there share of secrets and dark places in there mind.

I infer that Seth will become a different version of his birth mother like a druggie but not to crank and that some of his life will be ruined and not all and also that he will make some regretful mistakes.  Also that he might have to chose between living a secret life that his parents don't know about or even Nikki his girl friend or live a life his parents know about and hate him for.  Then I infer for Autumn that she will be with Bryce (new guy that likes autumn) for awhile then when they break up she will break down and go to crank as a way to "heal" her pain and sorrow and then she will live the same fate as her birth mother.  Then for Summer I infer that she will be very happy with Kyle(new boyfriend) but Matt(Kyle's best friend and sort of Summers now old boyfriend) will be very pissed and break down(maybe) and try to get summer back or just hate the both of them.  While Summer on the other hand will be ready for anything that happens between Kyle and her  in their relationship and that if they break up Summer will be ready for it but will still break down inside.  The reason is because now she is even more torn up ever since she was-i believe she was-raped at one of her old foster homes.

The book Give A Boy A Gun is about these 2 boys who held up there school dance and tried to kill the people that made their lives miserable.  The way the story was told was by people Gary and Brendan knew.   And they were sharing their thoughts and experiences on what was going and on what they thought about the boys.  Through out the book it led closer and closer to the day this all happened but it was like they were sharing their thoughts about what is going to happen.  Also the way some of the people were sharing their thoughts they were talking outside of the book directly at the reader while it still connected to the story.

This whole book really stresses that respect is due to everyone and no one deserves to be smaller then anyone else.  Now my interpretation on this book is that emotions can make you do certain things and react with your surroundings. that your emotions can control your thoughts and feelings.  An example is since Brendan was all ways being picked on it made filled with rage and made him try to kill those who tortured him.  Also that people don't accept others that are different in appearance and/or personality and/or physical characteristics.

I also interpreted that everyone is different and everyone takes things differently.  An example is that some one can be laughing at some thing some one said and another person can cry because of it.  Another thing was that guns make a big influence to "solve" a problem if they are around.  Lastly one big thing is that suicide isn't just some one dying it is a whole big issue.  when some one commits suicide everyone is blown away at what happened, there are so many mixed emotions expressed, and now everyone that knew the person has to live with it and realizes what that person did for them in their life and how much they cared about the person.

The Starter

In the book The Sirens Of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut there is a very rich man who is abducted by aliens. The mans name is Malachi Constant. Then he has his memory wiped, his new name is Unk and he serves in the army and starts to remember his past and goes on a quest to get his family.  Then he ends up on earth and his hated greatly and now is on the moon Titan.  Titan is a moon surrounding Saturn.

I am noticing how as more of Malachi's memory is being explained and revealed the more he hates himself and life.  Then when he finds out he killed his best friend he just loses it and gives up on life.  It is like his best friend was more important then his family because of I think all the memories they shared.  The irony of it though was that his family doesn't care about him at all they just think he is a loser and a failure.  The best of it all this is all because of Malachi's "friend" who can see the future and past who set him up to go through this horrible life.

Now Malachi's "friend" Winston is dying I think that his life might go back to normal or just get better.  Now since this robot showed up that might be Malachi's key to having a better life or his key to fix everything.  I think this because the robot is caring a message for aliens in another galaxy and that message might involve Malachi.  The reason is because Winston is involved in this too so then since of  his set up this letter will just be another part in his setup.  So my conclusion is that this message might say something bad about Malachi so then instead of just people on earth hating him a whole other species is.
